Know What Comes In and Goes Out

A money snapshot is not a grade. It is a way to notice what comes in, what goes out, and whether the timing creates pressure. Estimates are enough for this practice.

Choose one typical month

  • Include income, benefits, or resources you use for expenses.
  • If income changes, use a reasonable estimate or a lower-income month.
  • Include savings as money going toward something important.
  • Bill timing matters even when monthly totals look balanced.
